The Influential Nonprofit Episode 52: Maryanne Dersch: How To Get, Lead And Follow Up In Meetings (Part 3)
A preframe is how you show up as a leader to a meeting. You initiate and set the conditions for the conversation
Here’s the basics of doing a pre-frame: they will talk, you will listen to understand, you may add some wisdom, and then you decide together what comes next.
Schedule people in your calendar and make sure that you’ll follow up. Give them permission to say no, encourage them to be truthful.
Spend your time and energy on people who are a right fit. Your time and energy are resources that you use to give value, so you have to allocate it responsibly.
“Whoever sets the conditions for the conversation has the most influence in the conversation.”
“The more decision making I put into their hands, the more likely they are to decide what I want.”
“Raise your standards. Speak the truth. Put people on your calendar who really wanna be there. Let everybody else go.”
